Privacy Policy for Terremoti

**Last updated: February 14, 2026**

## 1. Introduction

Terremoti ("the App") is developed by Martins Dabolins ("the Developer"). We believe that your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

**Summary: We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.**

## 2. Data Collection

The App operates on a "Privacy First" basis.
- **No Account Required:** You do not need to create an account to use the App.
- **No Tracking:** We do not track your usage, behavior, or device identifiers.
- **No Analytics:** We do not use third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics or Firebase) to monitor user activity.
- **No Advertising:** The App is free of advertisements and does not share data with ad networks.

## 3. Location Data

The App requests access to your device's precise location. This access is used **solely** for the following on-device features:
- Calculating the distance between you and earthquake epicenters.
- Filtering earthquake alerts based on your customized radius settings.
- Estimating the "felt intensity" (MMI) of an earthquake at your location.

**Your location data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to the Developer’s servers or any third party.**

## 4. Data Storage

All data generated by your use of the App is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:
- Your "Did You Feel It?" game progress, scores, and statistics.
- Your app settings and notification preferences.
- Cached earthquake data fetched from public sources.

If you have iCloud backups enabled on your device, this local data may be backed up to your personal iCloud storage, which is secured by Apple. The Developer has no access to your iCloud data.

## 5. Third-Party Services

The App fetches public scientific data from the following government agencies:
- **USGS (United States Geological Survey)**
- **INGV (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia)**

When the App fetches data from these services, your IP address may be visible to them as part of a standard network request. These services are governed by their own privacy policies.

**Mapbox**
The App uses Mapbox to display maps. Mapbox may collect anonymized, aggregated technical data (such as IP addresses) to improve their service.

## 6. Notifications

The App uses **Local Notifications**. This means the App fetches earthquake data in the background and decides *on your device* whether to send you an alert based on your settings. We do not use a central push notification server to track who receives alerts.

## 7. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect personal information from *any* user, this applies to children as well.

## 8. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

## 9. Contact Us
